BMM Futsal Ministry – Playing for His Glory
At Brisbane Mahimit Mandali (BMM), we believe that ministry happens wherever people gather—even on a futsal court. What began as a simple Friday night game has, over the past two years, grown into a ministry where faith, fellowship, and football come together.
Every Friday at 7:45 PM, brothers from our church gather to play futsal, encourage one another, and strengthen the bond we share in Christ. While we enjoy the competition, our greatest goal is not to win matches but to grow as followers of Jesus and be a light to those around us.
Our ministry also participates in futsal competitions across Brisbane. These tournaments give us opportunities to meet new people, build friendships, and represent Christ through our attitude, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We believe every game is another opportunity to share the hope of the Gospel—not just through our words, but through the way we live and play.
Playing for God’s Glory
The Apostle Paul compares the Christian life to the discipline of an athlete:
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”
— 1 Corinthians 9:24
Just as athletes train with commitment, discipline, and perseverance, we seek to grow in our walk with Christ with the same dedication. Every Friday on the futsal court reminds us that teamwork, self-control, humility, and perseverance are qualities that honour God both in sport and in everyday life.
Another verse that shapes our ministry is:
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
This is the heart of the BMM Futsal Ministry. Whether we are training on a Friday night or competing in a tournament, our desire is that everything we do reflects Christ. Winning is enjoyable, but representing Jesus through our character is our greatest victory.
As Christian basketball player Stephen Curry has often said:
“I can do all things…” is not about winning games. It’s about having the strength from God to handle whatever comes your way.
That perspective reminds us that our identity is not found in trophies or results, but in Christ. Every match becomes an opportunity to trust Him, encourage one another, and show His love to everyone we meet.
More Than a Game
The BMM Futsal Ministry has become much more than a weekly sporting event. It is a place where friendships have become brotherhood, where players pray together, support one another through life’s challenges, and grow in faith together.
We thank God for His faithfulness over the past two years and look forward to seeing how He continues to use this ministry to reach more people through the game we love.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy futsal, build genuine friendships, and grow in your relationship with Christ, we’d love for you to join us.
